ANANTAPUR: Hopes of securing nominated posts have risen among ruling YSRC aspirants with the tenure of various corporation chairpersons and directors getting completed on December 16.

There are a total of 137 nominated chairman and directors’ posts in various corporations of the state. Those expecting them have started mounting pressure on their respective MLAs and MPs. In the Rayalaseema region, advisor to government Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy and Rayalaseema regional coordinator Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy are go to persons for securing the nominated posts.

These two have a major responsibility, as those leaders who had tried for the nominated posts during the earlier round are hoping to make it this time. Whether or not they get the posts will have an impact on the upcoming general elections. It can lead to dissidence within the party.

For instance, Naveen Nischal of Hindupur is leading a dissident group against MLC and YSRC in-charge Md. Iqbal. Similarly, director Shalini of the cultural wing tendered her resignation a few days ago expressing her opposition to the local Madakasira MLA.  She became part of leaders who organised meetings against the MLA during the visit of the Rayalaseema regional coordinator to Madakasira segment.

MLA M. Thippeswamy, however, wants to recommend for nominated posts only those who are obedient to him. Kapu (Vakkaliga) corporation chairperson Nalini Range Gowd from Madakasira is with the dissidents. His father and former minister H.B. Narasegowd is leading the group against the sitting MLA. The MLA, in particular, is mounting pressure on high command to change the chairperson and provide an opportunity to another person from the area.

An MLA from the region, on condition of anonymity, made it clear he does not want to encourage any dissident groups, as they are spoiling the image of the party. He is mounting pressures on the high command to replace the dissidents with obedient party workers.

Most MLAs in the region, however, have been taking steps to replace sitting chairpersons and directors, without disturbing those who are known to have direct access to the party high command.
