Vijayawada: Telugu Desam president Nara Chandrababu Naidu is likely to resume his political activity from November 29 as the AP High Court has permitted him to address public rallies and meetings.

The HC gave relief to Naidu while granting him regular bail in the skill development scam case this week. However, several hurdles in his way remain.

The TD leadership is eager to resume political activity in an aggressive manner as they have lost nearly two-and-half-months subsequent to the arrest of Naidu on September 9, followed by his judicial remand and jailing.

As Naidu is regaining his health via medical treatment in the AIG hospital and underwent cataract surgery at the LV Prasad Eye Institute recently, the party leadership is chalking out a strategy to hit the road and to reach out to the people.

Based on tentative plans, Naidu and TD general-secretary Nara Lokesh will resume the Bhavishyathuku Guarantee and Yuva Galam programmes respectively. These had been stopped abruptly following the arrest of Naidu. Lokesh was preoccupied with the work to arrange legal support for his father.

The TD ally, Jana Sena, will also continue its ‘Varahi Vijaya Yatra’ through the remaining districts on its own.

TD sources say that with both TD and JS readying to take on the YSRC jointly, they would allow TD leaders and cadres at Assembly segment level to take part in local programmes along with JS. However, as the election date nears, the top leaders from both the TD and JS will run the poll campaign jointly, explaining about their joint manifesto to the people and targeting the ruling YSRC by exposing its failures.

Leaders and cadres from both the TD and JS faced initial hiccups at recent Assembly segment level meetings vis-à-vis joint action. However, the top leaders are counselling them not to give ammunition to the YSRC to spread word that there was disunity in the TD-JS alliance.

Moreover, as the AP government challenged the High Court order granting regular bail to Naidu in the skill development scam case and the Supreme Court would pronounce  its verdict on Naidu’s plea for quashing of FIR in this case, fact is also that Naidu faces several other cases in the courts.

It has to be seen how Naidu can overcome all legal hurdles successfully to be out on bail to continue his poll campaign.

Telugu Desam national spokesperson Pattabhi Ram said, “With just a few months left for the polls, our party leadership will resume the poll campaign on November 29 and reach out to the people. We are optimistic that our party chief will overcome the legal tangles soon.”
