Tiruchy: Gandhian People’s Movement leader Thamizharuvi Manian on Sunday told a rally of “Rajini supporters” here that Tamil superstar Rajinikanth has confided in him that he has decided to take plunge in politics to give “corrupt-free” administration to Tamil Nadu.

At the well attended rally here, Manian, who is considered close to the superstar, also tore into the “corrupt” DMK and AIADMK, especially its leaders O Panneerselvam and Edappadi K Palaniswami, the chief minister.

Though the actor himself was not present at the meeting that raised several doubts about the announcement by Manian, his fans were present in “large numbers.” At the rally, Manian said the superstar told him very recently that he has finally decided to take the plunge.

“Rajinikanth told me that Tamil Nadu made him everything and he wants to repay the debt (by entering into politics). By entering politics, he wants to give a corrupt- free, transparent and good governance for the people of Tamil Nadu,” Manian said, adding that once Rajinikanth comes into politics, he will send “both DMK and AIADMK” packing.

Manian has been maintaining that Rajinikanth had vowed to enter the state politics and that the conference would herald his arrival into politics. On Sunday, he launched a stinging attack on former chief minister O Panneerselvam calling him the “greatest actor” who fell on the feet of J Jayalalithaa and later V K Sasikala.

“The meditation at the Jayalalithaa Memorial on the Marina Beach (where he announced his rebellion) by OPS is a drama. He is the greatest actor. We should not forget that it was OPS who looted the state with Shekhar Reddy (the PWD contractor arrested for possessing),” Manian said.

He also explained the necessity of Rajinikanth's entry into politics and the good changes he could bring into the state and hoped that the conference would become a platform for his political entry.

Manian, had already met Rajinikanth, a few times and asserted that the actor had confirmed his entry into politics, immediately after the meetings and so far, Rajinikanth had not denied the statements of Manian, who had been giving a series of interviews to Tamil news channels and magazines asserting that the actor would launch his party soon.
