VISHAKHAPATNAM: Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha member MVV Satyanarayana, whose family members were kidnapped by a local gang a week ago, has clarified that there was no conspiracy behind the incident. “I welcome the CBI probe,” he said.

“It was only the imagination of opposition leaders and a section of the media,” he said in his belated first response to the media here on Wednesday.

The MP said the gang of kidnappers wanted money and nothing else.

The MP narrated in detail how he had a happy dinner with the family on the night of June 12 and how the kidnappers jumped the compound wall and entered his son Sarat’s house at Rushikonda the following morning at 5am.

“The entire day the kidnappers Hemant and Rajesh beat my son up after tying his hands and legs. They made him call my wife Joyti at 3pm on June 13. She went there after the car dropped me at the airport. She too was taken hostage and the following day they made her call my auditor and friend G Venkateswara Rao (GV). He was also tied up and beaten up mercilessly.”

“My son suffered for 50 hours without food and water and my wife for 30 hours. She too was violently attacked,’’ the MP said.

He said it was unfortunate that some opposition leaders, instead of showing sympathy to his family members, invented stories of conspiracy and some newspapers carried these.

Calling Narsapur MP Raghuramakrishna Raju a “rabid dog,” Satyanarayana said when his family members were taken close to the doors of death, the MP made some senseless statements.

He also took strong objections to the former BJP MLA  Vishnukumra Raju, who said there was a conspiracy and central agencies needed to probe the case in detail.

“I welcome the CBI inquiry. Let the central agency probe things in detail,’’ Satyanarayana said.

He said the main accused Hemant has 13 cases including one of murder and another of rape and the second accused Rajesh was involved in 45 cases in the state.

“How can it be a conspiracy when hardened criminals attack my family for money,’’ the MP asked. “In fact, I came to know about the kidnap of my family members only after the police told me.”

When asked why he was shifting to Hyderabad, the MP replied that he did not want to mix business with politics.

He said he would serve the Visakhapatnam people while doing his business in Hyderabad. “Baseless allegations are bringing a bad name to the government. I had already started real estate projects for constructing more than 150 flats.”
