Hyderabad: Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Shabbir Ali on Saturday criticised Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for stating that previous governments had neglected Hyderabad.

He said that between 2004 to 2014, the Congress governments had spent about Rs 2 lakh crore on development of  Hyderabad. The Congress governments had launched  the Metro Rail Project, the Shamshabad airport, Outer Ring Road, P.V. Narasimha Rao Expressway,  Krishna-Godavari  water for drinking purpose and 13 new flyovers and bridges and many other projects which have made Hyderabad as global city.

He challenged the Chief Minister to show one project the TRS government taken up and completed.

Mr Shabbir Ali said Mr Rao was extending “blind  support” to NDA decisions and had extended support unconditionally for demonetisation and GST. He asked why Mr Rao was not demanding. in return, that pending state issues be cleared.
“It is shameful that  TRS MPs are either silent or absent in Parliament,” he said.

Mr Shabbir Ali and Mr Revanth Reddy demanded that the six TRS MLAs who were nominated to ‘offices of profit’ like Parliamentary secretaries should be disqualified.

Welcoming the Election Commission decision to disqualify 20 AAP MLAs holding the office of profit he said that the law should also be adapted in Telangana state as the conditions were almost similar. They said the High Court had on May 2015 stuck down the TS order appointing six TRS MLAs as parliamentary secretaries as illegal,

Mr Shabbir Ali  said the six MLAs had enjoyed perks, salaries and protocol on par with Cabinet ministers though their appointment has been struck down by court. The amount  should be recovered from them immediately, Mr Shabbir Ali demanded.
