KAKINADA: Telugu Desam activists observed fasts in several locations in the erstwhile East and West Godavari Districts on Tuesday against the party's leader and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's arrest. They denounced the detention and claimed that Chandrababu Naidu was unlawfully arrested by police as part of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's political vendetta. They urged the state authorities to free him right away. Women including the previous mayor of Kakinada, Telugu Mahila Kakinada district president Sunkara Pavani, observed a fast at the statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in Kakinada.

At the Balaji Cheruvu facility in Kakinada, the TD activists under the direction of former MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao (Kondababu) observed fasts. Chandrababu Naidu, according to Kondababu, had not engaged in any fraud, but the state authorities had detained him. Mootha Sashidhar, the leader of the Jana Sena, visited the camp and gave them support.

Kandula Durgesh, the president of the Jana Sena East Godavari district, paid a visit to the TD relay fast camps and offered his support. He declared that the arrest was vehemently denounced by Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan and that Jana Sena would form an alliance with TD in the upcoming elections.
