Bengaluru: Political stalwarts of the State, former Chief Minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah called on former Prime Minister and national president of Janata Dal Secular (JDS) H.D. Deve Gowda (90) at his residence in Padmanabha Nagar, Bengaluru to enquire about the latter’s health.

Siddaramaiah last met Deve Gowda in 2016 during the Cauvery water crisis. After the Assembly session, Siddaramaiah along with Congress leaders Zameer Ahmed Khan, R.V. Deshpande and others visited Deve Gowda.  After the visit, Siddaramaiah said that there were no political discussions.

Later, Siddaramaiah tweeted on the visit.  “I wish him a speedy recovery and would like to see him actively participating in politics again.” Mr Deve Gowda is coping with knee related problems," he said.

Siddaramaiah worked closely with Deve Gowda in Janata Dal and later in JDS. While Gowda was JDS national president, Siddaramaiah headed State unit of JDS. Siddaramaiah was expelled from JDS in 2006 and he joined Congress party. Since parting ways, Siddaramaiah and Gowda had criticised each other in public domain on numerous occasions.
