Modi for all-round development of AP: Veerraju
Somu said that 16 Kendriya Vidyalayas were set up in Andhra Pradesh in the last seven years
KAKINADA: BJP state president Somu Veerraju said that development of Andhra Pradesh is happening only because of the steps being undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is keen on the state’s overall development.
He was speaking after inaugurating a medical camp at Chebrolu village in Unguturu mandal of West Godavari district on Sunday.
He said that the Union government has resolved to develop the state taking advantage of the available resources and creating new wealth in such areas, which, in turn, would bolster the state’s economy. He said that 16 Kendriya Vidyalayas were set up in Andhra Pradesh in the last seven years and the Polavaram irrigation project is being completed at a fast pace with central funds.
Veerraju said that rice was being distributed at Rs one per kilo as the Centre was paying Rs 33 as its contribution and the state government Rs 2. The scheme will continue till November, he said.
Meanwhile, many people, particularly aqua farmers, led by the BJP state vice-president Saranala Malathi Rani submitted a representation to Veerraju stating that the area previously used to be a hub for export of aqua and other agriculture products by trains. But, due to negligence of the state government, exports have been stalled. As the railway station was not functioning, traders were forced to go either to Tadepalligudem or elsewhere to sell their products.
Malathi Rani said that nearly 110 ice factories exist in the area and traders have to pay higher prices as export charges in the absence of suitable transportation facilities.
She urged the Union government to provide ‘Kisan Rail’ to the area, which already has a railway station. Veerraju assured to take the issue to the notice of the railway minister.
