HYDERABAD: Turning tables on TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy, who invited BJP leaders to join the Congress, the BJP on Saturday made a counter-offer by inviting him to join the BJP.

Senior BJP leader and former MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, speaking to reporters on Saturday, said, “We are all working for the same goal, that of defeating KCR (Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao). We all believe that this can be done by a national party. We welcome Revanth Reddy into the BJP, and some other good Congress leaders. The BJP’s arguments for removing the KCR government are stronger than those of the Congress and it is the BJP that can do this.”

Vishweshwar Reddy, a member of the BJP’s joinings committee headed by Huzurabad MLA Etala Rajendar, kept all guessing about the veracity of the invite. “Even if we meet, we will not make a show of it,” he said.

The BJP leader also sought to scotch any rumours that he or other party leaders, including Rajendar and Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, were leaving the BJP. “There is no question of that happening,” he said.

He, however, reiterated a need for changes in the Telangana state BJP, but added that “changes” does not mean change in leadership.

Vishweshwar Reddy also said the Congress is “extremely smart when it comes to politicking on issues”, while for the BJP, every issue is tied to the spirit of nationalism.
