Hyderabad: All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi has summoned Telangana State (TS) Youth Congress Committee president M. Anil Kumar Yadav and the Maharashtra and Jammu & Kashmir state Youth Congress presidents to discuss the selection of the National Youth Congress president.
A committee constituted by the AICC high command has already interviewed 25 Congr-ess youth leaders to choose a potential president.

Kalwakurthy Congress MLA Challa Vamsichand Reddy and Anil Kumar were among those interviewed, and the committee shortlisted 11 candidates all of whom Mr Gandhi later interviewed. The AICC is likely to announce the new National Youth Congress president in a day or two.

After attending the interview conducted by Mr Gandhi on Thursday, Mr Anil Kumar said he was confident and had been waiting for this call for a long time. He said the call from AICC is a recognition for the work he has done in the state for three years.

Meanwhile, Congress MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and S.A. Sampath Kumar, who were recently expelled from the Legislative Assembly, have also been summoned by the high command to meet Mr Gandhi. The meeting, scheduled to take place on Friday, assumes significance in the wake of their expulsions, as well as the High Court’s stay order on this issue.

On April 17, the High Court set aside an Assembly resolution expelling both MLAs from the House, as well as the notifications of vacancy issued in their respective Assembly constituencies.
