Kochi: V.S. Achuthananthan's entry to the social media was the most viral topic last week but CM Oommen Chandy seems to be less impressed. He sarcastically congratulated VS for his new initiative in a post on his official FB page.

“I am happy that VS and his party have finally realised the potential of computers and the IT field. In the 80s, you and your young cadre launched an anti-computer campaign which resulted in youngsters losing job opportunities,” the CM said.
“You named computer as a devil which will ruin the job opportunities of youngsters.

Now you have brushed aside the memories and embraced social media. I would like to inform you that the loss Kerala suffered due to the anti-computer stand taken by CPM is huge. We could have become the IT capital of the country. At present the turnover the companies in the IT field is Rs 15,000 crores but if we started in the 80s the same could have tripled,”  CM went on to say.

However, VS countered, stating that CM have no right to speak about the IT industry as he has failed to keep the promises. He added that till date Smart City has not given any job to people.
