Shiv Sena (UBT) Activist Booked for Obscene Comments on Maharashtra CM

MUMBAI: The Mumbai police have registered a case against a man for allegedly posting an obscene comment on Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Facebook. According to the complaint, the said Facebook account belongs to a Shiv Sena (UBT) activist.

According to Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, Hemant Palav, an activist of Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena, had posted an obscene comment against the chief minister. Shiv Sena workers have approached MIDC police station at Andheri with their demands to take an FIR against Hemant Palav. Subsequently, an FIR has been registered.

In her complaint, Dipika Tawde (57), who serves as the coordinator for the Shinde-led Shiv Sena in the Andheri assembly constituency, said that she stumbled upon the derogatory remark while browsing through an online news report on her Facebook account. The comment was deemed to outrage the modesty of women.  The remark can also instigate riots between both regional parties, the complaint said.

A police officer said that a case has been registered under sections 509 and 153-A (1) of IPC and section 67 of IT Act. The comment was deemed to insult a woman's modesty.
