Vijayawada: Poll officials set the rules as nomination process begins

The SP said that police arrangements were made at the district collectorate, Machilipatnam where the returning officer’s office is located.

Vijayawada: All measures need to complete the election process smoothly in the district have been taken, said SP Sarvasresta Tripathi on Monday.

Addressing the media here, Mr Tripathi said that to maintain law and order and avoid any untoward incidents as the nomination process has begun, the police will use the latest technology available. He said that security has been intensified at the offices of all ROs and will continue till March 25.

The SP said that only five persons can accompany the candidate inside the RO’s office for submission of nominations, as per the instructions of the Election Commission.

“Only three vehicles per candidate will be allowed inside the premises,”  Mr Tripathi said. No other person or vehicle will be allowed within 100 meters of the RO’s office.

The SP said that police arrangements were made at the district collectorate, Machilipatnam where the returning officer’s office is located.

As part of precautionary measures, a DSP rank officer and a nodal officer were deployed at the RO’s office and Section 144 under Act 30 was imposed at across Krishna district.
