Cong, BRS' shallow secularism exposed: Arvind

HYDERABAD:  BJP Nizamabad MP Arvind Dharmapuri on Thursday slammed the BRS government for adopting allegedly double standards when it came to the uplift of Dalits and Muslims by offering two different schemes for the two communities. He said that the Congress and the BRS were displaying shallow secularism by taking on each other over who did more for the welfare of Muslims.

Arvind, in a series of posts on ‘X’ (Twitter), said the BRS and the Congress must carry the blame for the backwardness in the Muslim community.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Arvind said,  “If the Congress, as it claims, has done a lot for Muslims, they should have seen a lot more development in the decades under Congress rule. In the last 10 years, in Telangana, KCR and his family should realise that if they worked for welfare of Muslims, then the community should have been much better by now.”

“If downtrodden Dalits require Rs 10 lakh to lift themselves out of poverty with the help of Dalit Bandhu, how can similarly economically weak members of the Muslim community achieve the same uplift with Rs 1 lakh under Muslim Bandhu scheme? This is nothing but politics of appeasement of the minorities and not real effort to do any good for the Muslim minorities,” he said.

He said the Muslims began seeing results of development through schemes such as Ayushman Bharat and PM Awas Yojana introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government and targeted to deliver benefits to those who need them the most. “Muslim women are leading lives with dignity after the abolition of the triple talaq. They are also looking forward to implementation of Uniform Civil Code,” he said.
