Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao will address a public meeting in Thummaluru of Ranga Reddy district on Monday, after taking part in the ‘Telangana Haritha Utsavam,’ a green drive, as part of the TS decennial celebrations.

Officials said that mega plantation drives will be conducted across the state on Monday.

The Ranga Reddy’s BRS unit, led by education minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, is making arrangements for Rao’s visit. The minister on Sunday held a meeting with MLAs and elected leaders of the BRS from the constituency to mobilise crowds for the event.

This will be the fifth public meeting that the Chief Minister will be addressing this month, after the ones in Nirmal on June 4, Nagarkurnool on June 6, Mancherial on June 9 and Gadwal on June 12.

Although the public meetings are being held as part of the 21-day TS Formation Day decennial celebrations, the ruling party is utilising the occasion to reach out to people and seek public support for the BRS in the upcoming polls.

Political observers said that speeches delivered by Rao at these public meetings are along the lines of an election campaign, as the officials are also taking on Opposition parties, especially the Congress. They also cited constant appeals by the Chief Minister to the people to elect the BRS if they wanted continuity in ongoing welfare schemes.

Sources said that the Chief Minister wants to maintain the tempo by addressing public meetings in all districts in the run-up to the Assembly polls.
