Vijayawada: Minister for water resources Devineni Umamaheswara Rao refuted the allegations of the YSR Congress that he was offering promotions to 40 police officials belonging to a caste and challenged YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to reveal the details.

He alleged that Mr Jagan was sitting in Hyderabad and conspiring to weaken AP state by colluding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He stated that Mr Jagan had started a new drama by meeting AP and Telangana Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and lodging false complaints against the Telugu Desam.

Addressing a press meet at Vijayawada on Wednesday, Mr Umamaheswara Rao claimed that Mr Jagan had admitted to a YSRC defeat by returning to Lotus Pond at Hyderabad immediately after voting.

He alleged that Mr Jagan was misleading Andhra people with his baseless allegations about promotions of 40 police officials (DSPs) belonging to one caste group. He challenged Mr Jagan to reveal the details of the promotions.

Mr Umamaheswara Rao claimed that 44 EVMs did not work in Mylavaram Assembly constituency and voting was started at 3 pm in most polling centers as against the scheduled 7 am. He further alleged that VVPAT slips were displayed only for three seconds against the standard seven seconds and expressed suspicions about VVPAT slips. He claimed that voters stood in long queues for six hours to cast their votes and alleged that Mr Jagan was supporting the EC which had totally failed to conduct smooth polling.
