Hyderabad: PCC chief A. Revanth Reddy demanded that the government conduct a thorough probe into the series of major fire accidents that have occurred in the recent past, particularly in Secunderabad.

Expressing his sympathies to families of those who died in the fire accident at the Swapnalok complex on Thursday, Revanth Reddy, in a media statement, noted that the victims were young.

Revanth Reddy put the onus of the fire accidents on the negligence of the authorities. “Even before the fire at Deccan Sportswear (in which three persons died) could be forgotten this horrific accident has happened. KTR boasts of transforming Hyderabad into a world class city, but reality the government has failed to the ensure safety of people. On the one hand stray dogs are killing humans, on another hand such accidents are taking their toll.” A thorough probe into the fire accidents would help prevent them from recurring.

He said the government offer all support to the families of the deceased. Some Congress leaders led by Youth Congress leader Anil Kumar Yadav held a demonstration demanding ex gratia of Rs 50 lakh to each of the family of the victim. They were detained and shifted to Karkhana police station.
