Adilabad: Congress leaders of Sirpur (T) constituency led by TPCC secretary Anil Kamre on Saturday complained to the State Election Commission against the selection of Koneru Krishna, vice-chairman, as chairman of the Komaram Bheem-Asifabad zilla parishad.

Chairperson Kova Laxmi had left the post after being elected MLA recently. The Congress leaders said that selecting a general candidate, though temporarily, for a post reserved for the Scheduled Tribes community women was against the Constitution.

The Congress leaders appealed to the SEC to conduct a byelection for the chairperson post and ensure that a woman ZPTC member from the ST community was elected for the post.
