Stop demolition of mosques: AIMIM to Andhra Pradesh government

Hyderabad: The AIMIM on Tuesday demanded the AP government to immediately stop demolitions of mosques and dargahs in Vijayawada city.

A delegation, led by party general secretary Syed Ahmad Pasha Quadri, on Tuesday met the AP Chief Secretary S.P. Tucker here at the Secretariat and gave him a memorandum seeking the intervention of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to stop demolitions of Muslim religious structures and graveyards.

The MIM leaders alleged that the Krishna district authorities, with the active support of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation and police, have been resorting to these demolitions in blatant violation of the law and ignoring the pleas of the AP State Wakf Board and protests and resentment of the Muslim community.

They brought to the notice of the CS that centuries-old Abu Bakr masjid at Ramavarappadu in Vijayawada as bulldozed on May 15, 2016, despite protests.
They said that revenue authorities are trying to forcibly acquire the land and demolish the Dargah Hazrat Syed Hussain Shah Quadri and the adjoining mosque for flyover works.
