TIRUPATI: Tirupati witnessed an electrifying atmosphere on Monday when Jana Sena Party (JSP) president Pawan Kalyan arrived in the city to submit a representation to the district superintendent of police demanding action against a circle inspector who had allegedly assaulted a JSP leader in Srikalahasti.

The popular actor-turned-politician received a rousing reception from a large crowd of his supporters and fans who had gathered at the Tirupati Airport to catch a glimpse of him. Pawan Kalyan then proceeded on a 15-kilometre roadshow, accompanied by party man Kotte Sai, the JSP leader who had been slapped by circle inspector Anju Yadav.

The roadshow led to traffic chaos in several parts of the city. Commuters traveling through Renigunta, Gajulamandyam, Tiruchanoor, M.R. Palle, AIR Bypass Road, West Church, Town Club and Prakasam Road faced a harrowing time.

Local residents expressed their frustration, with some reporting that it took them an hour to travel from Town Club Circle to M.R. Palle, which usually takes 10–15 minutes. Though police tried to regulate traffic, their attempts failed due to surging crowds.

In the interim, an overzealous fan hanging from a crane garlanded Pawan Kalyan while on the roadshow in an open vehicle. The video has gone viral on the social media. This led to many JSP leaders following suit, using cranes to present Pawan huge garlands at various junctions throughout the city.
