Kochi: The weather was tough for the netas during the 70-odd days of campaigning in an unprecedented hot-wave condition but it was easy for the voters on the polling day. It drizzled at most parts of the state in the morning while there were short showers in the evening. The cool weather which contrasted with the hot political climate offered a perfect mix for people to go out and vote.

The capital city witnessed slight drizzle in the morning which stopped after a few hours. While the day remained dry, it rained at some places by the time the polling ended at 6 pm. Central Travancore region had cloudy skies with an occasional drizzle. Rain disrupted polling at places including Changanacherry in the morning for some time. Long queues of voters were seen in some booths in Poonjar constituency even after 6 pm.

Different parts of Ernakulam district witnessed heavy rain early in the morning which subsided later. Voters who did not venture out in the first few hours, however, trooped out after 11 am when rains subsided. The sky remained overcast across the district with occasional drizzling till the polling was over at 6 pm.

While it drizzled in many parts of Thrissur and Palakkad districts, it rained in the hilly areas of Chalakkudy constituency. The Malabar region also witnessed an early drizzle in many parts while the day remained dry. It rained in some parts of Kozhikode and Malappuram districts, too.
