Vijayawada: BJP parliamentarian GVL Narasimha Rao has said the critical remarks of senior state party leader Kanna Lakshmi Narayana against state party chief Somu Veerraju were inappropriate.

Earlier in the day, Kanna attacked the state BJP chief at a press meet at which he announced his resignation from the party in view of his differences with Veerraju.

The BJP MP said all decisions of the party like appointment  or removal of leaders from the party were taken as per directions of the central party leadership. Veerraju took no decision in his personal capacity, the MP said.

GVL said Kanna Lakshmi Narayana had been made the party chief in AP despite he being an “outsider” and had been elevated to the BJP national executive.

Meanwhile, the state BJP leadership reacted to the resignation of Lakshmi Narayana, by saying he had been given important positions in the party as per his political stature. The state party condemned all the critical comments Kanna made against party chief Veerraju.

The party leadership said all the leaders and activists of the BJP had full faith in the leadership of Veerraju.
