A Swamy Goud suspends defecting MLCs

Hyderabad: Legislative Council Chairman A. Swamy Goud on Wednesday disqualified three MLCs who had joined the Congress from the Telangana Rashtra Samiti — K. Yadava Reddy, R. Bhupathi Reddy, S. Ramulu Naik.
State legislature secretary V. Narasimha Charyulu released back to back bulletins regarding the disqualifications.
The MLCs were disqualified on the grounds of defection.
The bulletins stated that the three had been disqualified under Para 2 (1) (a) of the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution.
The MLCs were given show cause notices by Mr Goud in December, after the TRS filed disqualification petitions. The petitions were put to trial where the MLCs put forth their arguments.
After hearing the arguments, the Chairman felt that the MLCs had indulged in anti-party activities and were liable for disqualification, the bulletins said.
