Kerala Assembly Elections: Poll materials reach all booths

Poll materials were distributed from 13 centers in Thiruvananthapuram district.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The distribution of poll materials from 13 centres across the district was completed by Sunday afternoon with district administration having to do only  a minor fire fighting in terms of logistics. Poll officials reached distribution counters at 10 am as against 7 am in the previous years.  

Attingal Higher Secondary School was the lone centre in the district which served polling materials to two constituencies- Chirayankeezhu and Attingal. The officials collected the boxes loaded with control units among others. Free parking with 24x7 security  is available for the safe keep of officials’ personal vehicles until they return from polling booths on Monday evening. Medical teams were available at booths to check hypertension and ensure the well-being of the officials.   

“The electronic voting machines have candidates’ names already pre-fed into them. Some other sensitive materials were delivered by sectoral offices. All officials were dropped at respective centres by buses with armed guards. Control units have been opened. Mock polls will start at 6 am to ensure the accuracy,” an official said. Around 130 wheelchairs that were donated by banks will be ready at booths where ramp facilities are available.
