Mild Tension After Police Search Yashki's House

Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed in two different places following group clashes of the party cadre on Wednesday. While two groups of BRS cadre hurled chairs at one another in Maheshwaram constituency, the Congress cadre detained the party’s senior leader Mallu Ravi, who had gone to console Patel Ramesh Reddy. The latter eventually withdrew his nomination and assured to support the party candidate in Suryapet.

In Maheshwaram, the BRS cadre was divided into two groups alleging that the party candidate Sabita Indra Reddy was giving importance to a local leader. Irate over the incident, one group created nuisance and started assaulting with fibre chairs.  

In Suryapet Mallu Ravi assured Ramesh Reddy of a crucial position if the Congress comes to power. However, while Ravi was returning from Ramesh Reddy's residence, the cadre gathered at the place and had heated arguments. Ravi was subsequently escorted by the police and shifted from the place.

Meanwhile, police reportedly conducted searches in the house of Congress contestant from LB Nagar constituency, Madhu Goud Yaskhi in Hayathnagar late Tuesday night.

The police team stated that they had received a complaint that huge amounts were being distributed at Yashki’s house. Incidentally, neither the leader nor his followers were present when the police conducted searches. On coming to know of the searches, they rushed to his house and had heated exchanges with the ACP of LB nagar police.

“I am an advocate. When I asked the ACP to show the search warrant, I was told that there was a dial 100 complaint against him. The official neither could show the dial 100 message nor any written complaint,” said Yashki.

“I know that the BJP candidate Sudheer Reddy is behind this. If they allege that money was being distributed from my house, then let them show the money. How can the police come without a search warrant during late nights disturbing my family members?” he said.

On hearing about the incident, several Congress leaders and activists raised 'BJP down down’ slogans.

Senior Congress leader Ganta Sudhir Kumar condemned the incident.
Yashki’s family members said that they would lodge a complaint with the election commission against the late night police harassment.

Meanwhile, ACP J. Janaki Reddy rubbished allegations of police entering the Congress leader’s house.
