Bengaluru: In strong rebuttal to BJP leaders' charges over his alleged involvement in multi-crore Kerala solar panel scam, Congress general secretary, K. C. Venugopal, on Saturday dared that he would prefer to quit public life if the charges against him were proved in any court.

Speaking to reporters here, Mr Venugopal said, “I have already filed defamation suit against Saritha in Ernakulam court, who herself facing more than 36 criminal cases. I have maintained clean record in the last 40 year  of my public life. Moreover, opposition parties both Left in Kerala and BJP here  have developed the habit of maligning me with fabricated charges. Let any of these charges be proved in court, I will quit public life myself."

In response to a question, Mr Venugopal asserted that he would never approve of any discrediting language used against the Prime Minister.  “Be it Roshan Baig or anyone, I would not approve this kind of language used against the Prime Minister. Having said this, I wish to add that the BJJP leaders have much worse record in degrading leaders by their uttering denigrating remarks.

Therefore, the Congress need to learn any lessons from the BJP in this matter,” he snapped.
