Adilabad: In the run-up to the polls, the Congress party in Telangana is attempting to demonstrate its strength by holding a huge public meeting in Hyderabad on Sept 17.

Ticket aspirants have been given targets for the mobilization of people for the meeting. Efforts are being made to send at least 15 persons from each polling booth to Hyderabad. Party veteran Sonia Gandhi would announce five guarantee cards for the people if they voted the party to power in Telangana, Congress sources said.

The party would do the poll campaign by highlighting these five guarantees and would make these more popular through wall paintings.

AICC observers for the parliament constituencies, who held a meeting with the leaders, asked the ticket aspirants how much public they would mobilise and transport for the Vijayabheri in Hyderabad.

TPCC president Revanth Reddy is keen on mobilising lakhs of Congressmen and others for the meeting. The meeting is being organised under his leadership as TPCC president.

AICC observer for Adilabad parliament constituency Prakash Rathod from Karnataka and former MLC Mohan Joshi from Maharashtra held a meeting with the party leaders and ticket aspirants.

The AICC observers said the CWC meeting is being held in Hyderabad, followed by a public meeting, in which all top leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi as also all PCC presidents and CLP leaders, and CWC members would attend.

Congress ticket aspirants are told that their ability in mobilisation of the public for the meeting could be a major yardstick in deciding the party candidates. Many ticket aspirants are straining their nerves to organise people as also money for their transportation to Hyderabad and back. They have to do these without any clarity as to who would finally get the party tickets.
