KOZHIKODE: It is a neck-and-neck race between UDF candidate and sitting MLA M.K. Muneer and LDF candidate Prof. Abdul Wahab in Kozhikode south, the only seat in the district where a minister is trying his luck.

While Mr Muneer, who is fighting polls for the sixth time,  is already facing the ire of the traditional voters in UDF pockets like Kuttichira for not fulfilling his promises, the entry of a former  employee of India Vision channel led by him  created another problem for him.

“I was just a shareholder in the team. Even the Kerala Union of Working Journalists is convinced of this,” says Mr Muneer. Giving a tough fight is  LDF candidate Prof. Abdul Wahab who does not mince words while pointing out the shortcomings of the sitting MLA.

“Our MLA might not even know  the borders of his constituency. There are places like Ummalathur, where he has not visited yet. The basic needs  of the area like drinking water and employment are not addressed,” he said.
