Man files nomination in BC women reservation ward

The ward was reserved for BC women but, the people in the ward unanimously selected a man for the ward in the BC community

KAKINADA: A curious development was held in the sixth ward of Konkuduru Grama Panchayat in Bikkavole mandal   of East Godavari district. The ward was reserved for BC women. But, the people in the ward unanimously selected a man for the ward in the BC community as a ward member.

The member Kukkala Suryanarayana filed nomination and the returning officer received the nomination. But, later, they realized and invalid the nomination.

Mandal Parishad Development Officer Ms.Anupama said that though the nomination was received by the returning officer, later the nomination was invalid during the scrutiny time.

She said that It was informed to the higher officers for further notification for the election to the ward. It is said that there was no choice for receiving nominations from the women from BC category for the ward as the nomination period was over, when they noticed the mistake.
