Winning polls without helping poor means nothing: HD Kumaraswamy

The JD(S) leader, for his part, said merely winning elections without helping the needy meant nothing.

Bengaluru: State JD(S) president,  H D Kumaraswamy shed a tear or two on Wednesday on hearing the troubles of the wife of an autorickshaw driver from Nagamangala during his interaction with  autorickshaw, taxi and lorry drivers and owners here.

The woman revealed that the JD(S) leader had helped treat  her daughter whose medical bills ran into Rs 30 lakh. "No one other than Mr Kumaraswamy came forward to help me," s he cried. 

The JD(S) leader, for his part, said merely winning  elections without helping the needy meant nothing.

After patiently hearing the problems of the  drivers present he said only regional parties could help solve them. “If the JD)S) is  voted to power, the administration will not be from Delhi, but from Bengaluru . Besides, I will not allow  senior bureaucrats to run the government  machinery at their whim and fancy. Instead I will demand district wise reports," he added. 

Mr Kumaraswamy said that the administration should be aimed at empowering the working class and policies should be promulgated accordingly.  "In reality, no one understands the problems of the working class. The two national parties are only interested in capturing power," he contended.

Deve Gowda keen on poll  pact with left   
Having forged an alliance with Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) for the  Assembly polls in the state, Janata Dal Secular (JDS) is keen on an electoral alliance with the Communist Party of India (CPI), said JD(S) national president and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda on  Wednesday. Addressing media persons, Mr Gowda said talks with Communist leaders will be held on seat sharing and the JD(S) will spare a few seats for the Communists. He stated  that if the  JDS comes to power in the State, it  will announce farm loan waiver within 24 hours of assuming power.  A massive rally is being organized in Bengaluru on February 17 and BSP supremo Mayawathi will be attending it. Mr Gowda asserted that people rate the rule of JD(S) state president and former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy' as the best compared to that of the Congress or BJP.
