Kerala Assembly Elections: Public campaign ends today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The public  campaign for the Assembly elections  will end at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Chief Electoral Officer E.K. Majhi said in a statement here on Friday that the political parties should ensure that road shows and processions are peaceful. He also asked the police to maintain peace. 

The election commission has issued a list of 10 identification documents apart from voters’ ID card and photo-embedded voters’ slips issued by the  commission. They are passport, driving licence, bank or post office pass book, pan card, NPR smart card, MGNREG job card, smart card of the health insurance policy of the health ministry, photo-embedded pension documents, official IDs of MPs and MLAs and  identification documents issued  by  central and  state or public sector institutions to employees.

The election squad on Friday confiscated illegal money worth Rs .66 crore raising  the total seizures to  Rs 22.99 crore. Also,   9905 litres of liquor,  22,200 litres of spurious liquor and two kilos of gold were seized. The election commission has also introduced webcasting in 3,142 polling booths for ensuring smooth polling.
