Revanth Meets High Command to Finalise MLC Bypoll Nominations

 Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday held a meeting with AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leaders Rahul Gandhi and K.C. Venugopal to discuss the nominations for the upcoming MLC bypolls under the MLA quota.

Camping in Delhi since Friday, Reddy was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka for the meeting at Kharge’s residence.

Party sources said that Reddy proposed names of candidates and sought approval of the senior leaders, with January 18 the last date to file nominations. It was learnt that Reddy also proposed a few names to fill two more MLC vacancies under the Governor’s quota.

The high command is expected to announce the names of MLC candidates by January 16.

Reddy also discussed filling up six Cabinet vacancies, besides nominated posts of chairpersons of state-run corporations. He is learnt to have proposed to fill the nominated posts by the month-end to focus on the Lok Sabha polls for the next three months.

Reddy will leave for Manipur on Sunday to take part in the launch of Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, following which he will leave for Davos in Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum global investors meet, from January 15-18, and then to London in the UK on January 19 to take part in the ‘Hello London’ event organised at Hotel Heston Hyde by the Telangana diaspora organisations.
