Hyderabad: BJP national vice-president D.K. Aruna said that the recent Assembly elections have proved that people prefer to vote for development and nationalism. This spirit has given the party a thumping majority in three states.

Addressing the media here on Wednesday, she said, “People have realised the difference between Modi’s guarantees and the empty words of others. The verdict is a slap on the face of those who criticised Narendra Modi and his administration.”

The people’s angst at K. Chandrashekar Rao was visible when voters sent his family packing in Telangana. The parties, which have been in a secret understanding, did not want the BJP to increase its strength and therefore created confusion among the people. The credit for fighting corruption and failures of the BRS goes to the BJP, which inspired a change in mindset of the voters. That people will stand by the BJP in the 2024 elections has become clearer now, she said.

Reeling out the achievements of the party, she said, “The BJP has fared well in north Telangana districts and also defeated the incumbent chief minister in Kamareddy. The Congress, BRS and AIMIM are one and the same. Election of the speaker evidences this.”
