BENGALURU: Continuing with his posturing in public, senior Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar on Thursday said he never lobbied for any post nor indulged in groupism in the past and would not do resort to such tactics in future.

His comments came amid speculation that he mounting pressure on central leaders of the party to secure the post of Karnatala Pradesh Congress Committee president following Dinesh Gundurao’s decision to step following a drubbing in recent Assembly bypolls. Expressing displeasure over reports published in some newspapers in this regard, he told journalists here: “There is no need for me to lobby for any post in the party. I never indulge in groupism on caste or communal lines. If I wanted to do so, I would have done immediately after the term of S.M. Krishna ended. A section of the media the has been reporting that I have been lobbying for the post of KPCC president. I wish the media ends this campaign (against him),” he added.

He made it clear that he would not react to what others had said about groupism or lobbying.

“Mr Siddaramaiah and Dinesh Gundurao resigned soon after results of by-elections were announced. That's how they reacted to the results. Aren't they entitled to take their decision? They are human beings, too. When voters did not support our party candidates they felt bad,” he added.

Mr Shivakumar said he would travel to New Delhi to participate in 'Bharat Bachao' rally scheduled to be held on Saturday.
