HYDERABAD: Clad in saffron shirts and holding lotus flags, a number of youth and women danced to the popular number ‘Chaalu Dora--- Selavu Dora’ during BJP state chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s padayatra touched Jeedimetla RTC depot on Balanagar-Narsapur stretch here on Monday.

Giving the police restrictions that were in place, crowds waited outside the public meeting grounds to join the padayatra.

“The BJP has rekindled the hopes of youth and women. The padayatra has propelled the prospects of the party in the Quthbullapur Assembly constituency,” said K. Bhanu Kiran, a pharmacy employee from Jeedimetla.

Some women met Sanjay and complained that their houses in low-lying areas of Subhash Nagar get inundated whenever there is heavy rain. They sought a quick respite from the problems. “We met BJP leaders and they promised to solve it when the party comes to power,” Ch. Bhagavatmma said.
