Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday demanded strong action against the culprits responsible for the demolition of statues of former CM N.T. Rama Rao in different parts of the state. Condemning vandalisation of the statues of the TD founder, Naidu said the late leader was revered by Telugu people all over the world.

Naidu demanded stringent action against the persons responsible for the demolition of the NTR statue at Polavaram.

He asserted that nobody could erase the memory of NTR’s legacy from the minds of Telugu people by indulging in such silly and meaningless acts of vandalism. He alleged that NTR statues were being targeted after the YSR Congress came to power.

In a separate press meet, TD official spokesperson P. Anuradha accused the YSRC government of giving money to the poor with one hand and taking it back with another hand.

She alleged that the VAT hike on gas and petrol would undo the benefit to the poor under the YSR Aasara.

She lamented that the 24.5% VAT hike from the present 14.5% would put huge financial burden on 1.34 crore families using cooking gas in the state.
