Hyderabad: The TPCC is firm on expelling leaders indulging in indiscipline and anti-party activities, however ‘big’ they may be. Meanwhile, speculations were rife on Sunday that former MP G. Vivek and former MLA G. Vinod are set to join TRS.

The Congress also came in support of TJAC chairman Prof Kodandaram and termed the criticism by TRS leaders against him as an attack on democracy.

The TPCC executive committee, which met at the Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday to discuss defections and infighting within the party, resolved not to tolerate indiscipline and anti-party activities anymore and deal them with an iron hand.
The committee has decided to expel leaders who fail to reply to show-cause notices within the deadline.

Party sources said, “This will send a strong message that indiscipline will not be tolerated. If they fail to respond to the show-cause notices, they have to face the axe.”

MP Palvai Govardhan Reddy and MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy were among those who were slapped show-cause notices for their open criticism of TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and CLP leader K. Jana Reddy recently.

Meanwhile, Mr Govardhan Reddy clarified that he did not term Mr Jana Reddy as ‘covert’ directly and blamed media for misinterpreting a letter he had sent to Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy. He also demanded action against Congress leaders Mohd. Ali Shabbir and Mallu Ravi for criticising him.

Sources said AICC representative Koppula Raju will reach Hyderabad on June 15 to make the high command’s stand clear that indiscipline will not be tolerated.
He is also expected to make a last-ditch effort to persuade G. Vivek, G. Vinod, MP Gutta Sukhender Reddy and MLA N. Bhaskar Rao not to desert the Congress amid speculation of their migration to TRS.

Mr Mallu Ravi said, “The party is against the land acquisition policy of the TRS government for irrigation projects. It should be done as per Land Acquisition Act, 2013.” The party also decided to host iftar parties in all districts on June 17 for Ramzan. It opposed the painting of all government buildings in pink colour.
