HYDERABAD: Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Thursday said it was time for people of Telangana to vote for the BJP in the next elections in the state and invite ‘double engine’ growth in the state that would happen with a BJP government at the Centre, and a BJP-led government in the state.

Speaking with reporters, Dr Sawant said the tremendous response to state BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s padayatra left him in no doubt that the people were ready for a BJP government in the state.

The enthusiasm of the party workers and leaders and the support of the people were palpable, he said, adding that the fact that BJP president J.P. Nadda’s presence was at the start of the padayatra and Union home minister Amit Shah was set to address the concluding day of the programme, would only enthuse party leaders and workers to strive harder to spread Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of ‘antyodaya’ – the delivery of benefits to the last person in the last mile – in Telangana.

Dr Sawant said his state had demonstrated the benefits of having a double engine government and was at the forefront of implementing various welfare and development programmes launched by the Modi government.

Goa was also the first state to achieve 100 per cent vaccination of people against Covid-19, and also the one to inoculate tourists visiting the state.
