THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state BJP has decided to organise various programmes across the state on the 125th birth anniversary of Dr B.R. Ambedkar next year at the behest of the BJP national leadership. This is aimed at gaining mass support for the party  ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections when the party wants to win at least 12 seats in the state.  After the BJP national council meeting was held in Kozhikode last month,   the state leadership has been on its toes to strengthen the cadre work for the 2019  elections.

The birth anniversary of Ambedkar comes  immediately after the announcement of Jana Sangh leader Deendayal Upadhyaya’s year-long birth centenary celebrations.  Ambedkar’s birthday which falls on April 14 has been declared as a national holiday.   BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav will  tour  the state from November 9 to 11 to gear up the party cadres for the  Lok Sabha elections. A three-day district committee meeting will be held  across the state from October 12 to 14 and mandalam committee meetings from October  15 to 20.  Mr  Ramlal will  present a working report to BJP national president Amit Shah on the outcome of the meetings.

“The main objective of the national leadership is to capture   12 Lok Sabha seats in the state. For this, the lower strata of the party has to be strengthened,”  said a top BP leader. Coinciding with Ambedkar’s birth anniversary,  the state leadership will organise classes on various topics at district-level conventions targeting the welfare of the Scheduled Castes. Swatch Bharat Abhiyan will also be conducted in SC colonies.
