Bengaluru: Coming down heavily on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for his ‘insensitive and lethargic’ attitude in the last three years he was in power,  Opposition leader in the Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar has termed the Chief Minister a ‘big liar’.

Addressing mediapersons after releasing a booklet on ‘Three years of failure’ of the Siddaramaiah government here on Wednesday, Mr. Shettar said, “We used to call former CM Veerappa Moily a liar but Siddaramaiah has broken his record and has become a big liar. He has given false statistics on releasing input subsidy to farmers”.

The CM has been claiming that the Congress government is delivering transparent and corruption-free administration but most of his colleagues are involved in corruption charges. Listing the failures of the Congress government in three years, Mr. Shettar alleged that the CM is encouraging corruption by transferring honest and upright officers.

Mr Siddaramaiah woke up to the drought situation only after the BJP conducted a drought study tour in North Karnataka. He lied on the release of input subsidy to farmers as the government is yet to transfer Rs 290 crore to farmers, Mr Shettar said.

He also lashed out at the CM for passing the buck to the Prime Minister. Inspite of the Centre releasing Rs 723 crore for drought relief work this year, the CM has blamed the Centre for not releasing funds, Mr Shettar criticized. He gave the government a rating of three out of ten and said, “In the last three years Mr. Siddaramaiah not provided transparent administration. We have given three marks for the day to day governance provided by bureaucrats.”

“The BJP has no moral right to speak against the Congress. When B.S. Yeddyurappa, Sadananda Gowda and Jagadish Shettar were CMs, the state witnessed rampant corruption and misrule. Family members of Yeddyurappa and Jagadish Shettar were involved in corruption. Shettar termed me a big liar but he leads a lavish life. In my public life, I have followed principles and have never lived life lavishly. BJP leaders are capable of telling lies”, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said reacting to Mr Shettar’s allegation.
