Chennai:  BJP appears to favour dual leadership in the AIADMK post-Jayalalithaa death but it is not sure “how long or how smooth” the new arrangement of two people – O. Panneerselvam and V. K. Sasikala — handling the posts of Chief Minister and party chief would continue.

While contending dual leadership is “good in a way”, Union urban development and information & broadcasting minister M. Venkaiah Naidu recalled how the BJP ran a successful coalition government at the Centre in 1998-2004.

In an interview with this newspaper, the senior BJP leader made it clear that for the Centre, only point of contact in Tamil Nadu would be O. Panneerselvam since he is the elected Chief Minister of the state and dismissed the ‘Sasikala for CM’ campaign as an “internal problem” of the AIADMK party and the Centre won’t interfere in it.
