Women's Day celebrations: Congress mins join Kiran Bedi in cycle rally at Karaikal

The education minister will provide balls and nets to help start this sports culture.

Puducherry: Congress Ministers joined Lt Governor Kiran Bedi in a cycle rally organised as part of the conclusion of the week long Women's Day celebrations at Karaikal.  

Joining Bedi in the cycle rally, welfare minister M. Kandasamy and education minister R. Kamalakanan bicycled through the main routes starting from Aringar Anna Arts College to collectorate early in the morning.

Later, while inaugurating the Women's Day celebrations organised by the district administration the Lt Governor urged the women to realise their potential and to be skilled to provide for themselves.

“Woman can learn a skill and be helped from Nabard and urban livelihood mission,” she said.  She requested the district administration to hold rural sports to encourage football, handball and volley ball for boys, girls, men and women.

The education minister will provide balls and nets to help start this sports culture. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team gave a demonstration of emergency rescue operations and life saving techniques during disasters at the collectorate.

The Lt Governor also exhorted the people of Karaikal to make the region clean, safe and secure.  Apart from ministers Kamalakannan and Kandasamy legislators Geetha Anand, Chandrapriyanga and Asana joined the celebrations at Karaikal.
