Kurnool: City mayor and president of the YSRC for Kurnool and Nandyal districts, B.Y. Ramaiah, along with MLA Katasani Rambhupal Reddy, held a press conference on Saturday to demand punishment for former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu.
Ramaiah accused Naidu of being involved in a number of scams, including the alleged misappropriation of funds from the Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC). He said that the APSSDC was set up to provide skill training to youth, but that it was instead used by Naidu and his associates to enrich themselves.
Ramaiah also demanded an inquiry into all the alleged scams that took place during Naidu's five-year tenure as chief minister. He said that the YSRC government had already initiated investigations into a number of these scams, and that more would be revealed in the coming days.
Katasani Rambhupal Reddy said that Naidu was arrested by the AP CID with substantial evidence. He said that if the scam had come to light in 2018, Naidu would not have investigated it because he was afraid of being implicated. He also said that the Income Tax Department and the Enforcement Directorate had initiated investigations into the scam and had arrested eight people in connection with it.
Yemmiganur MLA K. Chennakesava Reddy said that corruption had allegedly occurred within two to three months of Naidu's return to power, particularly in the skill development sector. He said that he wanted to see Naidu sentenced to life imprisonment for his alleged economic crimes.
