Andhra Pradesh will have 3 capitals: Gudivada
Amarnath said a comprehensive bill for the three capitals would be tabled in the Assembly soon
Visakhapatnam: The YSRC government, led by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, is determined to have three capitals for the state, said minister for industries and IT Gudivada Amarnath.
Addressing a press conference in Visakhapatnam on Friday, Amarnath said a comprehensive bill for the three capitals would be tabled in the Assembly soon. Earlier, it was decided to amend the bill and reintroduce it in the House but this could not be done due to the pandemic conditions.
“Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy may move to Visakhapatnam and start functioning from the new capital anytime,’’ the minister said and added that the proposals to have Vizag as the administrative capital was to develop the north Andhra region which was neglected for many years.
But TD chief and former chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is conspiring to go against the capital move by egging on the farmers of Amaravati to carry out a padayatra from Amaravati to Arasavilli,” he said.
“The padayatra is nothing but an attack on the people of north coastal Andhra,’’ Amarnath told the reporters.
He said the idea of the Chief Minister was for simultaneous development of all the regions but the TD leaders want to develop only 29 villages at the cost of the other regions.
“We are never against Amaravati. We will include Amaravati and create three capitals following the Sri Krishna Committee recommendations. There is no going backwards,’’ the minister said.
Chandrababu Naidu had proposed to spend Rs 10,000 crore towards making Amaravati as the capital. But instead of spending such huge amounts of money for the capital, the YSRC government has utilised the opportunity for the developmental activities for the entire state, he said.
“We spent Rs 15,000 crore on Nadu-Nedu for refurbishing schools and hospitals and Rythu Bharosa Kendras,’’ he said.
He reminded Chandrababu Naidu the kind of treatment he got from the people when he arrived in Visakhapatnam after objecting to capital status for Visakhapatnam.
