Hyderabad: Finance minister T. Harish Rao said that the state government was forced to move court to get the Governor's assent for Bills passed by the State Legislature.

Reacting to Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan clearing three bills on Monday that were pending with Raj Bhavan since September last, Harish Rao said that she passed these Bills only because of the case filed by the Telangana government came up for hearing in the Supreme Court on Monday.

Speaking to media in Siddipet district, Harish Rao questioned the need for Governor to refer two crucial Bills, the Telangana Universities Common Recruitment Board Bill and The University of Forestry Telangana Bill, to the President. He said the delay in clearance of bills by the Governor was obstructing the progress in many ways.

"No Governor had kept bills pending for more than three days. Previous governors had cleared the bills overnight many times after the Cabinet sent them for their approval," he said.

Harish Rao said the delay on the Forest University Bill was leading to the youths losing educational opportunities. Educational opportunities would be lost by delaying the bill for setting up the Common Recruitment Board, which is present in states like was already there in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand.
