Khammam: Y.S. Vijayalakshmi, honorary president of the YSRC, said that Telangana state and Andhra Pradesh were inseparable, and the people of two states shared a strong emotional bond.

Backing her daughter Y.S. Sharmila at a public meeting here, Vijayalakshmi said she had extended her full support to her brother Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy when cases were filed against him. “Sharmila toured various places in undivided Andhra Pradesh and explained how Jagan was implicated in illegal cases", she said.

Vijayalakshmi said her husband Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy had brought up Sharmila by inculcating an attitude to fight for the poor.

“The contribution of YSR by bringing irrigation and industry for the development of Telangana is great has been praised by experts,” she said. He had implemented welfare schemes for the poor to saturation point.

She said that more people had died in Telangana after hearing of the demise of Rajasekhar Reddy than in Andhra Pradesh.

She called Sharmila gutsy, someone who was ready to face anything to reach her goal.  “Sharmilamma is the daughter of Telangana from now and I am handing her over to the people.”

She appealed to the people to bless Sharimila in her task and she would bring happiness to the poor.
