HYDERABAD: TPCC president and MP A. Revanth Reddy demanded a CBI inquiry into the recent auction of Kokapet land, in which he claimed the state exchequer suffered a loss of over Rs 1,000 crore. He alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and some IAS officers were involved in large-scale irregularities in the sale of land.

Reddy met the CBI director in New Delhi on Thursday and submitted a written complaint against the Chief Minister and some bureaucrats with regard to the Kokapet land deal.

Speaking to reporters later, he said that the TRS government had initiated steps to raise Rs 2,500 crore from the deal. Ignoring the regular e-tender process, the sale tender process was handed over to MSTC, he said.

Rao handed over valuable lands at throw-away prices to his relatives and some builders, which resulted in more than a Rs 1000 crore loss in revenue, he alleged.

Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, principal secretary Jayesh Ranjan, HMDA commissioner Aravind Kumar and Siddipet collector Venkatram Reddy played a key role in the sale, Revanth Reddy said.

TRS MP Manne Srinivas Reddy, My Home group’s Jupally Rameshwar Rao and Rajapushpa group were the direct beneficiaries, he alleged.

Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy dared BJP state president Bandi Sanjay and Union minister G. Kishan Reddy to initiate an inquiry against the CM for his alleged irregularities in the land sale.

The TPCC chief said that the two BJP leaders always pointed out high-level corruption by the TRS administration and that they would send Rao to jail. “But the BJP leaders have never complained to CBI, ED or any other enforcement agencies in this regard”, he pointed out.

“If Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah run the government honestly, why do they spare the TRS government, which is neck-deep in corruption”, he wondered.

Senior Congress leaders J. Geetha Reddy, B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, A. Maheshwar Reddy, Damodar Raja Narasimha and others were signatories of the complaint.
