Vijayawada: YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to concentrate on the segments of the defected MLAs, during his scheduled padayatra next month.

Since, he got the reports that party cadres are intact with the party, and only MLAs had defected to the TD, the YSRC chief has taken this as a priority issue. He would also concentrate on around 50 segments, where TD has full strength, according to party sources.

Navaratnas and stabilisation of party are the prime factors that prompted the YSRC chief to start a padayatra, according to sources.

He has said that he wants the TD-influenced Assembly segments and would focus on those segments more during his padayatra, according to sources.

The YSRC chief has the report of each segment across the state and he has a draft on the performance of the party heads and also MLAs in every Assembly segment.

During his padayatra, he will interact with the party heads and leaders and also assess the performance of the second rung leaders in the party in those segments.

“This is a kind of personality-cum-leadership abilities test,” a YSRC MLA explained.

According to the YSRC’s assessment, TD has a stronghold in 49 Assembly segments and since the inception of the party, TD never lost Kuppam and Hindupur.

Apart from these, TD has won 16 Assembly segments 7 times. TD also won 28 Assembly segments six times.

Now, the YSRC chief wants to focus on those 46 segments and also four more segments where TD and YSRC have equal presence among the local voters of their respective segments.

Since, the YSRC chief’s padayatra is aimed at hitting the TD’s stronghold, the TD will also get ready with counter plans.
