HYDERABAD: BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Friday said that the Congress had become extremely weak in Telangana and could not stand up on its own, or even with assistance. “The Congress did not even retain deposits in the bypolls in Telangana and that party is in a helpless state,” Sanjay told party leaders.

“It is time for us to show we are strong. This is especially important because the Congress, along with the BRS and a section of the media, are desperately trying to spread misinformation that BJP has become weak in the state,” he said, amid a Congress resurgence following its victory in Karnataka.

Sanjay was addressing party leaders from Khammam, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, and Suryapet districts in Khammam town on Friday at a preparatory meeting for the June 15 public meeting of Union minister Amit Shah.

He called on party leaders and workers to show their strength and make Shah’s public meeting a grand success.

He also said that after the success of the Khammam meeting, if required, the party will organise another public meeting in Kothagudem that will be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

There is no doubt that BJP will defeat BRS and come to power in Telangana and it will contest the elections on its own, he said. “The political temperature in the state is rising and people want change. And they want the BJP to bring that change,” he said.

Sanjay said, “KCR was shocked with the success of our Nirudyoga March in Khammam, and now with news of Amit Shah coming here on June 15, the Chief Minister is very worried. We will have at least one lakh people at the June 15 meeting.”

He said that the Communist parties had receded into history were no longer a presence. “As a result, they are seeking shelter under KCR’s umbrella. Their decision shows that the Communists have no pride even after KCR called them terrible names,” Sanjay said.
