Bhatti finds fault with KCR

Hyderabad: The BRS government has left the state government with a debt of Rs 5 lakh crores and added just five lakh acres to the 95 lakh acres which already had irrigation facilities, said CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka.

He said the erstwhile Hyderabad State had 15 lakh irrigated area by September 17, 1948. To this, the later governments added 35 lakh acres. The late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy added another 45 lakh acres.

By the time the BRS government came to power, 95 lakh acres were being irrigated. Has the government finished one medium irrigation project or at least dug a single pond in nine years, while speaking at the Nakkalagandi project in Chandampet mandal of Nalgonda district during his padayatra.

“Many pending lift irrigation projects have been left unfinished. It’s unreasonable to claim that the government gave water for 16 crop seasons from the Nagarjunasagar left bank canal. The BRS government has let down Nalgonda district by not completing the projects,” he said.

The CLP leader said the government had not completed the Palamuru Ranga Reddy and Kalwakurthy lift irrigation projects. Not a single acre had been irrigated in Nalgonda district additionally, he said and added the government which neglected SLBC (Srisailam Left Bank Canal) for 10 years doesn’t have the standing to celebrate 10 year-festivities.

Bhatti spoke with Nakkalagandi project oustees and enquired about their problems. “The people are biding their time and are ready to vote for the Congress,” he said.

Project oustees should be rehabilitated under the 2013 land acquisition act and relief and rehabilitation measures implemented to the Nakkalagandi project evacuees. Former TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy joined the padyatra and expressed his solidarity.
